Louisa Conrad and Lucas Farrell started Big Picture Farm in 2010. This small hillside goat dairy and farmstead confectionery and creamery is located in southern Vermont. Their goat milk caramels and farmstead cheeses are made with fresh, raw, creamy goat’s milk from their herd of 40 healthy and happy, free-ranging companions. An Animal-Welfare-Approved farm, their products revolve around the health and happiness of their animals. Seeking to integrate agriculture and narrative in a fresh way that properly evokes the place, animals, and work in order to bring to life the exciting and unpredictable evolution of their products, farm, and lives. The packaging and presentation of their products reflects this goal: showcasing multimedia artwork of their herd, their farm, and their life together.
Before starting the farm, Louisa and Lucas were working artists. Now, the farm is an opportunity to tell the story of food through words, pictures, and experiences. Big picture farm welcomes visitors to the farm or their shop down the hill at 109 Grafton Road, Townshend. The shop is open from 9-4, Monday-Friday. Please call ahead (802) 221-0363.
